A Free World of Humanity, Epsilon Prime had independent rule split among twenty-one city-states before the civil war. City-state independence played a major role in their culture and was part of the reason for their delay in leaving the Great Darkness. After the Great Compromise, on the Heat of Twenty-One island centrally located within the Heart Sea, those states that would become the twenty-one unified under a single flag while retaining independence. The two most powerful states, Athinia and New-Sparta, kept a rivalry burning strong until the Unification Civil War fourteen years before the invasion of Gliese.
Under the Lyons Twins’ authority, New-Sparta conducted a surprise attack on the Allied States by convincing City-State Lémas to betray their allies and side with the New-Sparta Pact. A now-famous event known as the Secret Meeting at Midnight was the final push needed by Isaac and Killian Lyons to attack. Lyons Pride shock troops with their allies pushed through City-State Lémas and invaded three Allied States simultaneously, including Athinia.
New-Sparta Pact (ten total, before Aetós declared): Iskhoros, Photia, Knidonos, Thebos, Uranaea, Therisiám, Lémas, Bokós, Ampholpolis.
Athinia and the Allied States (nine total after Delfa joined): Syrac, Macegia, Elpis, Gelarhcret, Corinetus, Delfa, Zacynth, Kythi.
Neutral states: Aetós (before joining New-Sparta) and Rhódmore
When all was lost near the closing days of the war, City-State Aetós finally declared for New-Sparta and used their famed Chrysós Aetós heavy carriers to blockage the planet. After Athinia surrounded, City-State Syrac continued to fight on for another month before finally succumbing to the enemies that surrounded them.
Isaac and Killian Lyons solidified their rule through the deaths of billion and became City-State Prime with Isaac as prime regent and Killian as general prime. They’ve ruled Epsilon Prime and the Alliance under tyranny and still treat citizens from the Allied States worse than Civil Earth treats Tier Four or Dolrinions treat their slaves.
Before the Unification Civil War, Human Alliance military forces between all twenty-one city-states combined were the most powerful force in all occupied space.
Epsilon Prime is a nature-rich artificial world with natural food sources in abundance because of the minimalist imprints by the twenty-one city-states. Each state only has one State capital city. The rest of each state has small rural villages that are all surrounded by dense natural landscapes. New-Sparta Pact states have full access to cultivated food groups. Allied States that didn’t lose their fields to poisonous toxins, otherwise known as salted fields, have limited access to rich nutritious diets. Instead, they live on artificial rations dispersed by Lyons Pride forward command posts near village centers.
Since the end of the civil war, the Human Alliance flag has been changed to a roaring lion head, which symbolizes Isaac and Killian Lyons’ famed Lyons Pride. Nine lighting bolts with slight color variations for each of the nine states that supported New-Sparta during the war strike down towards the center. The backfield is split with red and black.
Special Note: Although Aetós declared for New-Sparta at the end of the civil war, they were left out of the flags representation.
All twenty-one city-states have a distinct language. Older generations can speak the Language of Humanity, but for the last fourteen years, Isaac Lyons had decreed through law that schools stop teaching Civil Earth's True Tongue and replaced it with New-Sparta's language as the main speech of Epsilon Prime.
Only New-Sparta Pact states can keep a standing state guard since the conclusion of the civil war. Each pact state has its own state guard of well-trained conscripts. States have an independent style of conscript that ranges from everyday soldiers to the most parotitic elites. Examples of such elites are New-Sparta’s Lyons Pride. Before the civil war, Athinia had the Green Guard, and Syrac had their Grizzly Brigades.
Common name: Conscripts
Only New-Sparta Pact states can keep military fleets. Like conscript forces, all Air/Space Forces of each city-state have custom styles and names based on practices within specific states. The most famous of all is City-State Aetós’s Chrysós Aetós, or known in the language of humanity as Golden Eagles. This state’s heavy carriers are considered the most powerful within occupied space alongside Federate capital ships. Chrysós Aetós style all their vessels with a golden eagle head at the front of each vessel.
Before the civil war, some city-states didn't keep large active State Guard forces. Instead, they opted to have reserve militias that could be called up and activated during times of need. This structure was a major reason for some of the Allied States quick demise during the first days of the war. Military service out of secondary school was mandatory for all states, but after a year of service, some opted not to retain these forces. Certain Allied States depended heavily on Athinia's military for their protection.
After the civil war ended and any colonists who sided with the Allied States fled or died, the Human Alliance only retained six colonies on air-breathing worlds. Before the war, all twenty-one city-states had at least one colony world. Most of those decaying ruins were left to planet natives, and New-Sparta Pact states decommissioned some.
Current city-state prime and is controlled by Isaac and Killian Lyons. New Sparta is the second-largest state, with mountainous highlands running along the western side of their state capital city. After Isaac Lyons became regent, he commissioned a massive building project to redesign their Ministry of State building completely with representations of their lions heads. Hardline loyalists enjoy displaying the lion’s symbol to show their obedience to the Twins of New-Sparta. New-Sparta was the leading state in their New-Sparta Pact, an alliance between states that fought together during the civil war. Prime General Killian Lyons maintains a vast armed services for air/space, land and sea known throughout occupied space as the Lyons Pride.
Once the financial and military powerhouse of all twenty-one states, Athinia was always the beacon of light to most of the twenty-one states. The famed Sideris family, whose history stemmed back to the Old World, always held positions of power within Athinia's ruling class. Before the war, certain Allied States depended on Athinia for protection because they didn't keep a sizable active armed forces, regardless of mandatory service out of school. After Prime Regent elect Liam Sideris surrendered and the Twins marched in their Parade of Victory down Green Street to the state Ministry of State building, Athinia suffered tremendous loss by Lyons Pride shock troops. Liam the Unifier was able to get many of his people off the planet before Athinia's fall. After the war, those who remained spent their days laboring in hot and humid warehouses to produce goods for New-Sparta and their allies.
Is the strongest supporter of New-Sparta and has always worked closely with them. This state is landlocked and was always known for its powerful ground conscript armed service. Their State Guard was one of the largest before the Unification Civil War, but they suffered insurmountable losses when invading Athinia's northern border. They succeeded in occupying the state but couldn't push further without reinforcements from New-Sparta. Iskhoros used long-range artillery bombardment with great success during the Siege of Syrac.
Known as the Sibling State to Athinia, having equal representation in each other’s State Ministry buildings and sharing a border along the southwestern portion of their state. Syrac was known as the steadfast grizzly’s of Epsilon Prime after their state’s high native bear population. They also had a strong ground conscript force. During the war, this state resisted for a month after all other Allied States surrendered. Their unyielding and relentless actions mirrored the grizzly bear of the state, and they paid for their defiance to New-Sparta with years of torment and death. The air always smells of death inside Syrac from the work camps, execution centers, and treatment by the Lyons Pride. In recent years, intelligence reports suggest that efforts are underway to exterminate their state bear to remove the defiant symbol of Syrac.
Known as the City-State of Hope. Elpis has strong traditions to the Door of Life religion and believed in unity among the city-states. Before the war, Elpis invited and hosted citizens from each of the twenty-one states to their territories every year during the Festival of Twenty-One, a twenty-one day event to celebrate the Great Compromise were all twenty-one came together to create the Human Alliance. This state had a strong trade partnership with Athinia, and even though they didn't keep a large standing conscript force, Elpis did fight at Athinia's side during the civil war by primarily using their volunteer militia forces.
Smallest of all twenty-one city-states on the eastern half of the supercontinent. Macegia was always known through history for producing some of the best athletes on Epsilon Prime. Most world teams from the Alliance always had Macegians leading them. During the civil war, this city-state was the only one who successfully threw back an invasion force from City-State Knidonos, and Macegia was able to invade the enemy state before the Lyons Pride sent reinforcements. Of all the Allied States, Macegia was the only one to go on the offensive during the civil war, a testament to their fighting spirit.
Was considered by many citizens of the Allied States to be the final straw to break their backs during the war. Aetós remained neutral throughout the civil war until it was clear that the New-Sparta Pact states would win. Once they officially declared for the Lyons Twins, they used their Chrysós Aetós fleets, known in the Civil Earth true tongue as Golden Eagles, to blockade the planet over the Allied States. Chrysós Aetós ships are argued by many throughout occupied space as being among the most powerful and technologically advanced vessels among any of the Free Worlds. In recent years, Aetós has been viewed as second class to the other Pact states, and it doesn't go unnoticed that a lightning bolt is missing from the Alliance flag, which would represent their state.
was the first state to fall during the Unification Civil War. Gelarhcret's biggest weakness was that they never kept a fully staffed standing armed service and depended on their reserve militias for protection. Their biggest reason for such a tactical weakness was that only a small portion of the state's border touched Photia, an enemy state. They shared their southwestern border with Lémas, which was an ally until the surprise attack started. When the invasion came, the Gelarguard militia units couldn't mobilize fast enough, and their surrender came quickly. Before the war, Athinia's navy always had ships in port along the eastern coast of Gelarhcret to protect against opposing states.
Is the only city-state that's not connected to Epsilon Prime's supercontinent. The other twenty all have drawn out borders that touch each other, but Bokós has seven thousand Islands located on the northwestern corner of the continent with the Argól Ocean to the north, Emerald Ocean in the south Swizzle Sea separating its islands from the mainland. Before the war, Bokós was the most favored tourist destination for the city-states because of its mostly tropical climate along the southern island chain. The largest island, home to their state capital city, has more vacationers than citizens. Bokós has had a territorial rivalry with Thebos for hundreds of years, and even after the civil war, their navies have battled each other in swizzle waters. This state sided with New-Sparta during the civil war.
The furthest northern most city-state on the supercontinent with mostly cold and wet climates where some areas of their state remain snow-covered year-round. The Rocky Ridge Bay lines their shores to the north where the stairway mountain’s highest point starts and runs down the eastern half of the total landmass in this state. Zacynth is an Allied State and spent hundreds of years building underground fortifications deep under the bedrock of the Stairway Mountains. When the surprise attack had started during the Unification Civil War, Zacynth’s regent sent out emergency notifications to all citizens to report to their assigned bunker. State Guard conscripts held back advancing forces while its population fled, and most of them survived. An entire civilization still hides under these cloud reaching, gigantic, awe-inspiring mountains, and Lyons Pride advanced units are constantly harassed by the well-known special service soldiers, Stairway Rangers, who still patrol in small teams conducting hit and run attacks on the occupation forces. Zacynth is also home to the Warriors of the Light, extremists to the Door of Life religion.
A trade partner of New-Sparta for hundreds of years and relatively neutral city-state that never involved themselves in wars or territorial disputes unless it directly affected them. During the War of Oppression, it's believed that New-Sparta could hold out as long as they did because of a constant supply line through the Heart Sea to New-Sparta, which Athinia never had direct access to counter those supplies. In recent years, Delfa is remembered the name given to their regent, known as the Drunk Regent, who had called Isaac Lyons an angry kitten during the prime regent assembly vote while in a drunken stooper. Delfa failed to vote the following day, and Isaac Lyons became enraged by these actions. When the surprise attack came to the Allied States, Delfa was also invaded. In confusion, they believed the attack was coming from City-State Elpis, on their southern border, but it had come from City-State Iskoros to the west. Delfa declared publicly for Liam Sideris and Athinia, but their State Guard was already in ruins by that point.
Had been an ally of Athinia since the Great Compromise and always kept a great trade partnership with all five city-states that border its territories. Lémas never maintained a large conscript force because of their relations with all bordering states. Historically, they depended on Athinia and Syrac for protection during times of major conflict. Lémas became a name forever remembered by city-states because of their betrayal against the Allied States. The famed Secret Meeting at Midnight had occurred with the Lyons Twins just after the vote where Isaac lost against Liam. Their regent agreed to side with the massive military might of the New-Sparta Pact states and used their border with Photia to allow Lyons Pride shock troops to invade Gelarhcret, Corinetus, and Kythi completely by surprise. Because of their betrayal, Lémas suffers the second-largest amounts of terrorist attacks, behind New-Sparta, by City-State Loyalists fighters for the last fourteen years. Three months after the Unification Civil War ended, Lémas’s regent, with her husband and three children, were murdered in their hotel room while on vacation in City-State Bokós.
Always managed to keep out of nearly all wars amongst their fellow city-states because of strategic placement on Epsilon Prime's supercontinent. Rhódmore has harsh climates of temperatures so cold it rains ice in most of the landscapes of the southern peninsula. Rhódmore stayed neutral during the war and enforced a blockade between their southernmost tip and the south pole of Epsilon Prime. They didn't want to be seen as favoring either side, but because of city-states' placement, their decision hurt the Allied States more than Pact states. After the war, New-Sparta was not kind to Rhódmore, and to ensure compliance, local leaders are forced to send family members as hostages to New-Sparta. Officials like the Silent Lion, right seat representative to the relations station, took a bride by force who was thirty years younger and the daughter of an elected regent to Rhódmore. Currently, this state is not allowed to keep conscript force or possess weapons of any kind.
Is the third-largest city-state on Epsilon Prime and sided with New-Sparta during the civil war. Thebos has the largest coastline of any other state and touches three different oceans: Freeze Tide Ocean, Argól Ocean, and Swizzle Sea. Before the civil war, Thebos had one of the largest navies, and due to their aggressive nature, they had fought against both Athinia and New-Sparta before. This state’s naval might was only matched by Bokós, who shared a waterline in the Swizzle See. Both states still fight over seafaring rights and where the lines draw out for who owns what and has rights to travel. Regardless of the Twins’ favor towards Thebos, New-Sparta doesn’t get involved in these disputes but keeps a stipulation that neither side include any other state in their squabbles.
Sided with Athinia and had the largest population of any city-state before the Unification Civil War. The entire state has nutritious soil with perfect climate conditions for harvesting huge crop yields. Over the last fourteen years, Pact states have forced Corinetus to work on their farms to death through a form of indentured servitude which can never be paid off. Pact State Guard centers are located throughout Corinetus, where they continue to ensure citizens of this state keep producing food for the Alliance. They no longer have the largest population because of the ravaging damage Photia's blue firebombs caused during the civil war and constant deaths from being overworked on farms.
Known for their legendary weapons called blue firebombs of Photia that they’ve used for hundreds of years. When detonated, these weapons burn with a hot blue flame that’s so intense it ripples for days and melts metal. Water and fire suppression technologies only strengthen the blue waves that can even burn in the vacuum of space. Sand is the only known way to diminish blue flames of Photia, and they used this weapon with tremendous effect against the Allied States and especially Corinetus, who suffered a majority of their state’s deaths from Photia carpet bombing campaigns. This city-state also suffered heavy losses during the war, from Corinetus State Guard surface to air batteries. Photia is within New-Sparta’s inner circle of trusted states within Isaac Lyons’ cabinet.
Supported New-Sparta during the civil war but is not held in high regard by the Pact states because of their failure to successfully invade Macegia, who threw them back within a week. Knidonos had been the only New-Sparta Pact state to be invaded by an Allied State during the war. Prime General Killian Lyons had said publically that the delay in overall victory came from Knidonos's inability to maintain itself during the war. Forces had to be redeployed across battle lines to assist Knidonos so that Macegia didn't push into New-Sparta.
A medium-sized city-state that shares a border with New-Sparta and supported them during the civil war. For thousands of years, Uranaea had been considered a shadow of New-Sparta. In modern times, travel between both state territories was free without passing through customs and Uranaea even paid taxes to New-Sparta under the guise of religious donation benefits up until the War of Oppression when Athinia banned this practice and had a wall erected to keep these states separated, something paid back to Athinia after the Unification Civil War when New-Sparta removed the wall blocking them from Uranaea and did the same between Athinia and Syrac.
The Twin Cities, North and South, separated by the sixty-meter Kulerky river between each side, splitting the city in half and running into the Stelray Reservoir. Kythi’s Twin Cities circumference had been the largest of all twenty-one states because North and South had no true separation and was technically labeled as a single city regardless of split local governance and budgets. The city’s Ministry of State building was located on the main connection bridge between both sides of the river so that neither North’s mayor nor South’s mayor gained a political advantage. Kythi put up a strong resistance against Pact states during the war, but because of their shared land border with Lémas, the attack came with shock, unpreparedness, and disbelief. Much of Kythi’s defenses were in the northwest border with Knidonos and the southeast border with Ampholpolis. They never massed any defenses along the border with their ally Lémas.
The state of plentiful harvest had always competed with Corinetus for an unofficial title of producing the most food of any city-state within the Alliance. Since they sided with New-Sparta during the war and made it through relatively unscathed, Therisiám currently holds the largest population of all twenty-one city-states and has surpassed Corinetus as the most bountiful producer of farmed goods on Epsilon Prime.
Is best known for being home to the Dark Priests, extremists to the Door of Life religion. Isaac and Killian Lyons are deep practitioners to the Acolyte of Darkness and have visited the underground First Dark Church of Darkness, where it's said through whispers that the first Dark Tome bible is kept there with Dark Priests guarding it. Ampholpolis is the only other city-state in the Alliance besides New-Sparta that allows Dark Priests to have active rolls inside Ministry of State buildings.
